Bolton - Facts and Figures

 

Many people in Bolton, myself included, have perceptions about the town and its peoples which can be based on myths, rumours and hasty judgements.

It is important that the issues I raise and campaign on are based on facts and factual figures so there can be no argument about the basis of what I say.

I have therefore extracted some information and figures about Bolton which I will rely on.

In Bolton there are 3 Parliamentary Constituencies and 20 Wards

These are as follows:-

Bolton West

Heaton and Lostock,

Horwich and Blackrod,

Horwich North East,

Smithills,

Westhoughton North and Chew Moor,

Westhoughton South.

Atherton.

Bolton South East

Farnworth,

Great Lever,

Harper Green,

Hulton,

Kearsley,

Little Lever and Darcy Lever,

Rumworth.

Bolton North East

Astley Bridge,

Bradshaw,

Breightmet,

Bromley Cross,

Crompton,

Halliwell,

Tonge with the Haulgh

The 2011 Census gives information based on Parliamentary Constituencies.

I have extracted the following information from that Census.

(Please note that Bolton West now includes Atherton which is in Wigan Borough, so the totals for Bolton will be, in some categories, slightly less than those quoted.)

Little Lever & Darcy Lever

Little Lever and Darcy Lever are together only a part of the Bolton South East Constituency, so it is not possible to give a breakdown in the above categories for just that Ward.

However the 2010 Electoral Roll shows that:-

In Little Lever there are some 8,184 residents in 4,642 Households.

In Darcy Lever there are some 1,641 residents in 837 Households

Totals for the Ward are therefore 9,825 residents in 5,479 Households.
